How it works
Does Tailored.cv write my CV from scratch?
No. Tailored.cv restructures, strengthens, and optimizes your existing content. It:
- Extracts your real experience and achievements
- Rewrites weak bullets into impact statements
- Aligns language with target role requirements
- Adds ATS-friendly structure and formatting
It does NOT:
- Invent experience you don’t have
- Create fictional metrics or achievements
- Generate generic template content
Think of it as a skilled editor who makes your real story more compelling, not a ghostwriter creating fiction.
Do I need a job description?
No—you’ll get a strong general version without one.
With a job description, you get:
- Precise keyword alignment
- Role-specific language mirroring
- Higher ATS match scores
- Better JD fit scores
What if my CV is rough or incomplete?
Paste what you have. The system will:
- Restructure for clarity
- Convert weak bullets into impact statements
- Flag missing information and suggest upgrades
Works with messy formatting. If your CV is an image/screenshot, use Copy Text (iPhone Live Text / Google Lens / Snipping Tool) then paste the extracted text.
Is it customized or generic?
Fully customized based on:
- Target country (local CV norms, page length, tone)
- Role & seniority (leadership vs execution emphasis)
- Tailoring mode (Balanced, ATS-Max, Executive Narrative, Career Switch)
- Job description content (when provided)
Understanding your scores
How are the scores calculated?
Your report includes four key metrics:
- Overall Score – Combines profile strength, evidence quality, and role alignment
- JD Fit Score – Measures how well your experience matches the target role requirements
- ATS Readiness – Assesses structure, formatting, and keyword presence for ATS parsing
- Evidence Strength – Evaluates quantification, specificity, and credibility of achievements
Each score includes detailed explanations of strengths, gaps, and improvement areas. Lower scores aren’t failures—they’re diagnostic tools showing exactly what to strengthen.
My scores seem low – is something wrong?
Not necessarily. Scores reflect current state against best practices:
- Overall Score 60-75: Solid foundation, needs targeted improvements (most common)
- JD Fit 50-70: Skills transfer but language needs reframing (especially for career switchers)
- ATS Readiness 70-85: Structure is good, keyword alignment needs work
- Evidence Strength 40-60: Claims lack quantification or specificity
Check your “ATS Review & Recommendations” section for Quick Fixes—these are high-impact changes that typically boost scores 10-15 points.
What is the Authenticity Risk Score?
This score (shown in your Performance Dashboard) measures how “AI-sounding” your content appears. Lower scores are better.
- 0-25 (Low Risk): Content reads as genuinely experienced and human-written
- 26-50 (Moderate Risk): Some phrases may feel generic or AI-generated
- 51-100 (High Risk): Heavy AI phrasing that recruiters will likely flag
The system actively reduces this risk by:
- Using natural, varied language
- Avoiding generic AI phrases like “passionate self-starter” or “leveraging synergies”
- Preserving your authentic voice while strengthening structure
Settings explained
What is Tailoring Mode?
Controls optimization focus:
- Balanced: Best for most applications
- ATS-Max: Maximum keyword alignment
- Executive Narrative: Leadership story and strategic framing
- Career Switch: Reframes experience for new role path
What is Humanisation Control?
Controls how natural vs. formal the writing sounds:
- Higher humanisation: Natural phrasing, stronger narrative flow
- More ATS-optimized: Tighter language, explicit keyword alignment
What is Narrative Lens (Fixer Mode)?
Applies strategic narrative restructuring to your CV:
- Fixer/Turnaround: Stabilize, remove ambiguity, deliver measurable recovery
- Builder/0→1: Create from scratch, validate, ship
- Operator/Scale & Process: Improve systems, efficiency, reliability
- Growth/Commercial: Revenue, pipeline, expansion, conversion
Helps career switchers and mid-senior professionals create coherent career narratives.
Can I set a preferred tone?
Yes. Choose Direct, Warm, or Bold. Output stays professional while matching your preference.
Quality & transparency
Will this guarantee interviews?
No. Tailored.cv eliminates common failure points (weak keywords, poor structure, unclear evidence, AI-sounding phrasing), but hiring decisions depend on many factors outside your CV.
Can it make mistakes?
Occasionally—especially if key details are missing. The report includes a “Quality & Assumptions” section that shows:
- Confidence Score – How confident the system is in the output (based on input quality)
- Clarity & Structure Score – How well-organized the final CV is
- Density Penalties – Areas that are too verbose or complex
- Key Assumptions – What the system inferred from missing information
- Items to Confirm – Specific things you should verify before submission
This transparency helps you understand exactly what to review and strengthen.
What does “[To confirm]” mean in my CV?
The system marks contact details and optional information as “[To confirm]” when not provided in your input. This is intentional—it prevents the system from inventing placeholder data.
Before submitting your CV:
- Replace all “[To confirm]” entries with your actual information
- Review the “Items to Confirm Before Submission” section in your report
- Verify dates, metrics, and any assumptions the system made
Does it invent experience?
No. The system rephrases and structures your real background powerfully. It only keep statements that are true.
How does country customization work?
The system applies country-specific norms (typical CV length, style conventions, tone expectations) so your CV “reads right” for your target market.
ATS & formatting
Is the output ATS-friendly?
Yes. Clean structure with:
- Clear section headings
- Consistent bullet formatting
- No confusing columns or graphics
- Standard fonts and spacing
The ATS Review section identifies any formatting risks and provides specific fixes.
The report says I’m missing important keywords – what should I do?
The “Keyword Coverage Analysis” section shows:
- ✅ Present in CV – Keywords you already have
- ⚠️ Missing or Weak – High-value keywords the role requires
- 💡 Recommended Additions – Specific places to add them
Don’t just stuff keywords randomly. The recommendations show you how to naturally integrate them into your existing achievements and role descriptions.
How do I download as PDF?
On the report page: Print → Save as PDF
Can I get a Word version?
Copy the CV content into Word/Google Docs—formatting remains clean and structured.
Will it fit on one page?
Depends on your country norms, seniority, and content volume. The system recommends appropriate page length but won’t delete valuable evidence to force a page count. Check the “Page Strategy Summary” in your report for the target word count and compression strategy used.
Privacy & data
Do you store my CV?
No. Tailored.cv is privacy-first:
- No accounts required
- No long-term storage of inputs
- No CV database
What happens to my data after generation?
Your content generates your report, then it’s not retained. The report displays instantly for you to save/print.
Will my CV be used to train AI models?
No. Your content is not collected into retained datasets. The system uses your input only to generate your immediate report.
Do you use tracking cookies?
No. No user profiling or behavioral data collection.
Pricing & payments
How much does it cost?
£12.99 for a complete application bundle. One payment, everything included. No subscriptions, no add-ons, no upsells.
Are there subscriptions?
Not yet – but soon!
What’s your refund policy?
If the system fails to generate your report due to technical error, refunds are handled automatically through Stripe. Completed outputs are non-refundable—this is a digital service delivered instantly upon generation.
Repeated refund requests (3+) may result in account suspension to prevent abuse.
Getting the best results
How do I maximize output quality?
- Paste plain text or use Copy Text from images (avoid complex tables in paste)
- Include metrics where possible (%, £, time saved, scale)
- Provide job description when available (strongly recommended)
- Add links to proof (portfolio, GitHub, publications)
- Use “Context & Nuance” field to highlight priorities
- Fill out Industry/Function for better vocabulary matching
- Choose appropriate Tailoring Mode and Narrative Lens
Should I remove sensitive info first?
Yes—remove address, phone, etc. if you prefer. The system doesn’t require full personal identifiers. Contact details will be marked “[To confirm]” for you to add before submission.
Should I generate for every job application?
For high-value roles: yes, especially if you have the job description. For volume applications: generate a strong base CV per role family, then customize key sections.
What if I’m switching careers?
Career switching is a strong use case. Use the Career Switch tailoring mode and choose an appropriate Narrative Lens (Fixer Mode). The system will:
- Reframe transferable skills
- Rewrite summaries for new target path
- Align evidence to role requirements
- Reduce industry jargon from old sector
Troubleshooting
Generate button not working?
Try:
- Refresh the page
- Use Chrome or Safari
- Disable browser extensions that block scripts
- Ensure all required fields are filled (CV text, target role, country, seniority)
Output looks incomplete?
Common causes:
- Missing inputs (thin CV text, no role clarity)
- Very short or poorly structured source CV (under 200 words)
- Conflicting instructions (e.g., “keep 1 page” + extensive 20+ year history)
The report’s “Quality & Assumptions” section will tell you what to add to improve results. Check the Confidence Score—if it’s below 70, the system is flagging input quality issues.
The report is too long/too short?
Check the “Page Strategy Summary” in your report—it explains the target word count and compression approach based on your country norms and seniority level.
For shorter output: Use the Target CV Page Length setting (Strict 1 page) For longer output: Ensure you’ve provided comprehensive CV text with multiple roles
My CV looks different from the example – is that normal?
Yes. Every CV is customized based on:
- Your specific experience and industry
- Target role requirements
- Country/region norms
- Seniority level
- Chosen settings (Tailoring Mode, Narrative Lens, Tone)
The structure is consistent (Professional Profile, Core Strengths, Achievements, Experience, Education), but content and emphasis vary significantly.
Using the output responsibly
Can I use it as-is?
Yes—but:
- Verify all factual claims
- Replace all “[To confirm]” placeholders with your actual information
- Review the “Items to Confirm Before Submission” section
- Keep only statements you can justify in interviews
- Personalize a few lines so it sounds authentically you
How do I use the Interview Questions section?
The interview questions are tailored to the job description, your role and experience. Use them to:
- Practice STAR-format answers before interviews
- Identify gaps in your examples or storytelling
- Understand what “signals” hiring managers look for
- Prepare evidence and metrics to support your claims
These aren’t guaranteed interview questions, but they represent the types of questions your CV will invite.
Should I copy the LinkedIn rewrite exactly?
Use it as a strong foundation, but personalize:
- Adjust the About section voice to match your natural speaking style
- Update experience highlights with any recent wins
- Modify the call-to-action to reflect your current priorities
- Ensure consistency with your actual LinkedIn profile structure
Refunds & issue handling
Do you offer customer support?
No. Tailored.cv is priced to be high value and fully self-serve, so we don’t provide real-person support or troubleshooting via email/chat.
What happens if something goes wrong?
If you experience a genuine technical failure that prevents you receiving your output, the only resolution offered is a full refund (where eligible).
Can I request revisions or customization?
The service is fully automated and delivered instantly. We cannot provide manual revisions, personalized consulting, or custom outputs.
If your output doesn’t meet expectations:
- Check the “Quality & Assumptions” section for input quality issues
- Review the “Quick Fixes” in the ATS Review section
- Consider regenerating with improved inputs (more detailed CV text, job description, clearer context)
At £12.99, the economics don’t support manual customization. The system is designed to produce high-quality outputs from the first generation when good inputs are provided.
